Curlfriend Corner: February Curlfriend of the Month — Morgan Day

Curlfriend… get cozy. 🤎

You know that old-school curly community feeling? The one where you couldn’t wait to read the next feature, screenshot the best tip, and leave a comment like, “okay sis, I’m trying this on my next wash day”? That’s the spirit behind Curlfriend Corner — our monthly safe space where we spotlight one Curlfriend at a time.

And because it’s Black History Month, this one feels extra special. Our hair stories are culture. Our routines are tradition. Our crowns carry history... and every time a Curlfriend shares what’s working (and what she learned the hard way), it helps the next Curlfriend breathe a little easier and keep going.

This month, we’re featuring Morgan Day...a beauty-loving, content-creating, braidout queen with 4B-ish, low porosity hair… and a routine that’s all about hydration, growth, and density.

Let’s get into it. 👇🏾

Tell us about you

My name is Morgan Day and I am from Acworth Georgia. I live with my parents and 2 older brothers. I love all things beauty, makeup, hair, fragrance etc, and creating content to share with others!! I am a college student and a Biology Major with a minor in Public Health on a Pre-Dental track as I plan to be an orthodontist.

I have one pet and he is a Alapaha Blueblood Bulldog and his name is Thanos. I also enjoy reading and am trying to get back into it! I enjoy self care, and taking time to myself to relax. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and friends!

How would you describe your hair

My hair is kinky curly, and has multiple patterns, but is most similar to 4b. My hair is low porosity and doesn’t retain water all that well.

What are your hair goals right now

My hair goals are growth and density, as well as keeping my hair hydrated!

What was your biggest struggle before Tree Naturals

My biggest struggle before Tree Naturals was keeping my hair hydrated and longevity in my braid outs. Braid outs are my signature style, and I found before Tree Naturals my hair would get very dry easily and I would have to constantly re-do my braid out, and the curls wouldn’t last.

How did you discover Tree Naturals

My Mom is an avid user of Tree Naturals and absolutely LOVES the products! She is the one who introduced me to them as they work so well for her hair. She had the hair growth bundle, and that was where I began to use the products.

What made you decide to try us and what were you hoping would change

I was hoping my hair would feel thicker and hold on to moisture easier. I also was hoping my hair would tangle less, and hold onto a braid out better. My mom encouraged me to try Tree Naturals after it worked so well for her.

Which Tree Naturals products are your top 3 favorites and why

My favorite products are Natasha’s Growth butter, The Whipped Curl Crème, and the Hair Growth Oil. I love the growth butter because I feel as if it is what helps to retain moisture the best!! If I apply the butter to my ends and shaft of my hair after using the Curl Crème, I find as if my hair stays super hydrated.

The Curl Creme gives my hair so much slip and is very helpful for detangling, and locking in the pattern from my braid out. The hair growth oil is super luscious, and lingers on my scalp, and has already made my edges feel thicker. Not to mention, every product listed smells AMAZING.

Walk us through your routine using Tree Naturals

The night before wash day I apply the growth oil to my scalp. Fresh after washing, I start off with the curl crème fresh out of the shower to detangle and section my hair easier. I then use the growth butter to seal my ends and hair shaft after using the crème. I apply a holding mousse and braid each section.

Lastly, I put the oil on my scalp in between the braids. The next day or when my hair is completely dry, I put the butter on my hands and warm it up to take down my braids! I use the oil to fluff out my hair, and sometimes during the week I will go back in with a little bit of the oil and the hair milk to refresh my hair.

Okay Curlfriend… if you’re a “I need to SEE it” girlie, this is for you 😅

What did you notice first

I first noticed moisture lasting longer, and my hair holding onto the braid out pattern longer.

What is your number one don’t do this mistake you learned the hard way

My biggest mistake in growing my hair has been over washing. I used to wash my hair and re-do my braid out every single week.

After changing up my routine to make my braid out more sustainable, I have noticed a significantly positive difference in my hairs hydration levels and density. Washing your hair every 2-3 weeks is very helpful in making your hair healthy.

If your hair could talk what would it say right now 😊

It is glad to be hydrated, and no longer washed every single week!!

How can we keep up with you

Closing

Curlfriend, drop Morgan some love in the comments... especially if you’re a braidout girlie or you’ve been trying to figure out low porosity moisture for years. Tell her what you’re taking from her routine (and yes… we’re all hearing her loud and clear on not overwashing 😅).

And if you want to be featured as a future Curlfriend of the Month, we’d LOVE to hear your story. No pressure, no perfection — just your real journey, in your voice.
